After my observations, gallery and museum visits and conversations with Thai artists in 2006/2007, I had the impression: this is a conservative world with little interest in international events.
There was no professor at the well-known Silpakorn University in BKK who was known beyond Thailand. At the famous Düsseldorf Art Academy, there had been students from Japan for a very long time, now also from all over Asia, but never one from Thailand. There were a handful of progressive, creative exceptions who sold their works exclusively abroad.
If the exchange of information was missing, one had to invite. I did not meet with enthusiasm when I contacted professors. They assumed that an invited person would not only be paid for the flight and the stay, but that a fee for the student and for the mediating professor would also be possible. I asked back what kind of world star they wanted to send me and how many stage appearances were planned in which halls.
Yes, in 2008 the Thai had no idea what was happening outside their borders in many areas.
After a few clarifying mails and completion of the visa formalities the student Pranai Kasemtavornsilpa came to us for four weeks. All costs were covered by me, he was shown parts of German culture, city life and over 20 exhibitions, gallery and studio visits. His horizon was broadened. At home he gave lectures about his journey.
My wife Luck asked him if he liked our city and if he could live here. "No, it's like a cemetery." Culture Clash.

******************************************
Today Pranai Kasemtavornsilpa teaches in Korat at the university as an art professor. At that time he studied especially woodcut and etching. Nowadays his working techniques have expanded considerably.
SUPPLEMENT: After my emigration to Thailand I had a long, inviting wall on my property. I offered it again to the students in BKK for painting and experimenting. I also informed the teachers of the neighbouring schools. Not much desire, and if so, then for a fee. Also for the children!

I WAS FED UP WITH THEM!
I have enough different ideas. I also enjoy doing it alone. That's my fee.
